The World Bank has launched the Africa Skills for Jobs Policy Academy in Nairobi, Kenya, aiming to equip young Africans with skills for growth sectors and address the significant youth unemployment gap across the continent.

10 to 12 million young Africans enter the labor market annually, with only about 3 million formal jobs created.
Ndiame Diop, vice president for Eastern and Southern Africa at the World Bank, highlighted the initiative's focus on practical solutions and job-specific technical skills.
The academy, bringing together 250 participants from over 20 countries, will target reforms in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) to close the skills gap.
