Kenya awaits formal communication regarding a UN Security Council decision to replace its leadership in the Haiti mission. The UN voted to transition the Kenyan-led Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) into the new Gang Suppression Force (GFS).

• Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja confirmed his office has not received formal directives concerning the changes impacting over 800 Kenyan officers in Haiti.
• The new GFS mission, co-authored by the US and Panama, will have an initial 12-month mandate with a projected force of 5,550.
• Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’oei welcomed the transition, highlighting the GFS's robust mandate to neutralize gangs and strengthen Haitian institutions.
