The Social Health Authority (SHA) has clarified that whistleblower Andrew Kipkurui Rotich has not been fired, despite reports suggesting otherwise after he exposed a multibillion-shilling healthcare fraud. He remains an employee under transitional arrangements, but was not rehired as a Deputy Director after his previous appointment was nullified.

• Andrew Kipkurui Rotich is currently a Senior Officer at SHA.
• He did not apply for the Deputy Director, Internal Audit position in the recent recruitment, instead applying for Assistant Director, Internal Audit.
• The fraud exposed by Rotich led to the closure of 1,300 rogue hospitals involved in fraudulent billing.
• The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) called for an independent inquiry into SHA's recruitment process.
