Former Chief Justice David Maraga has chosen the United Green Movement (UGM) party to pursue his bid for alternative leadership in Kenya's 2027 presidential elections.

Maraga was preselected as the presidential flagbearer at a Founding Members Forum in Nairobi.
He stated his intention to challenge President William Ruto in the upcoming elections, promising leadership centered on the rule of law and constitutionalism.
Maraga will now tour the country to popularize the UGM party, aiming to win numerous seats in August House and County Assemblies.
The party's founder, former Ndhiwa lawmaker Agostinho Neto, emphasized that the 2027 elections represent a "liberation exercise" for the country.
