President William Ruto has announced a "whole-of-government" approach for the nationwide rollout of the Ksh.5 billion National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme, emphasizing smooth and transparent implementation through collaboration between the Executive, Legislature, and county governments.
- The NYOTA programme aims to support 100,000 young people, with 70 beneficiaries from each of Kenya's 1,450 wards receiving a Ksh.50,000 grant to launch entrepreneurial ventures.
- The initiative, a partnership between the Government and the World Bank, also includes training 90,000 youth for job experience, 20,000 for recognition of prior learning, and 600,000 on Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO).
- Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) PS Susan Mang'eni highlighted the program's focus on improving youth employability, expanding job opportunities, fostering a youth savings culture, and ensuring 50-50 gender parity.
