The Kenyan government aims to issue 1 million new identification cards within the next 12 months, launching a nationwide mobile registration drive next week.

Over 400,000 uncollected ID cards are currently held in registration offices across the country.
The initiative is led by CS for Interior Kipchumba Murkomen and the Department of Registration of Persons.
A new machine capable of printing 15,000 ID cards daily has been acquired to expedite the process.
