The National Land Commission (NLC) is set to acquire land in Kiambu, Machakos, Kwale, and Kisumu Counties for crucial infrastructure development projects, including water supply and road construction.
- The projects, undertaken on behalf of the Athi Water Works Development Agency (AWWDA) and the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), aim to enhance water supply, sanitation, and road networks.
- In Kiambu, land is needed for the Karimenu II Dam Water Supply Project to boost water to Nairobi, Thika, and Juja.
- The Machakos Sanitation Project will expand sewerage systems, while Kwale County will see land acquired for the expansion of the Kwale–Kinango (B92) Road.
- Kisumu County will have land acquired for the reconstruction of the Mamboleo–Miwani–Chemelil–Muhoroni–Kipsitet (B132) Road to improve connectivity.
- Affected landowners must submit written claims, identification documents, proof of ownership, and bank details to the NLC for compensation.
