Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi has been re-elected for a second term as Chairman of the Council of Governors (CoG) in elections held on Monday, October 6. This leadership reshuffle also saw several other governors take on new or retained roles within the council.

• Ahmed Abdullahi retained his position as Chairman through consensus.
• Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki ascended to the Executive Council as the Whip, replacing Nandi County boss Stephen Sang.
• Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga retained his position as Vice-Chair, completing the three-member Executive Council.
• Significant committee changes include Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir replacing Njuki as Health Committee Chairperson, and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga taking over as Human Resources, Labour, and Welfare Committee Chair from Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.
• The positions are usually held for one year, with the next elections set for October 2026.
