The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has issued five directives to motorists ahead of school closings beginning October 24, relaunching the Operation Watoto Wafike Salama campaign. The guidelines address road safety concerns, especially with the ongoing rainy season.

• NTSA urged motorists to obey traffic regulations, adapt to rainy conditions, observe safe speeds, and avoid flooded roads by following the “Turn around, don’t drown” principle.
• The Authority emphasized ensuring children use seatbelts and maintaining vehicle safety through regular inspection of tyres, brakes, wipers, and lights.
• The Kenya Meteorological Department forecasts continued rainfall in several regions between October 7 and 13, including the Rift Valley and Lake Victoria Basin.
