Police in Nairobi have arrested a suspect after dismantling an illegal operation producing fake honey in Umoja 2, Buruburu Estate. The sting operation, conducted on Tuesday, October 7, followed weeks of intelligence gathering regarding substandard honey products circulating in the city.

• Nairobi Region officers seized chemical substances, heating equipment, a gas cylinder, and dozens of bottles of counterfeit honey.
• The suspect was taken to Ruai Police Station and is expected to face charges including food adulteration and unlawful manufacturing.
• The National Police Service announced ongoing crackdowns on counterfeit food and beverages nationwide, following a recent seizure of Ksh100 million worth of counterfeit cooking oil in Mombasa by the Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA).
