An audit report has revealed that Busia County spent over Ksh.4 million on a consultant to determine a hospital's classification, despite it already being a Level 5 facility. This revelation has put Governor Paul Otuoma under scrutiny by the Senate County Public Accounts Committee (CPAC).

• Busia County spent Ksh.4.98 million on a consultancy to confirm the classification of a hospital already designated as Level 5.
• The CPAC Chairperson, Moses Kajwang', expressed disbelief, calling the expenditure "drama."
• Senators also raised concerns about a sharp decline in Busia County's revenue collection, including a 70% drop in parking fee collections between the prior year and the 2023/2024 financial year.
• The Auditor-General's report also highlighted that Busia County was using unofficial email accounts for official business, a breach of protocol.
