All hikers stranded in the remote Karma valley near Mount Everest in Tibet have been safely evacuated after an unusually severe blizzard, concluding a major search-and-rescue operation.

• A total of 580 trekkers and over 300 guides and support staff were evacuated.
• The rescue operation was carried out by authorities in the region, with reports from Xinhua news agency.
• The incident follows a record-breaking year with over 540,000 tourists visiting the Everest region.
