Concern has emerged in Kenya over the nomination of 60 Members of Parliament and parliamentary staff for Mashujaa Day national honours, with particular scrutiny on several MPs with controversial pasts. The public has until October 13, 2025, to submit objections.

• 60 individuals, including 46 legislators (35 National Assembly, 11 Senators), were nominated by the Parliamentary Honours Advisory Committee.
• Notable nominees include Tiaty MP William Kamket Kassait, Kimilili MP Didmus Wekesa Barasa, Mt. Elgon MP Fred Kapondi Chesebe, and Sirisia MP John Walukhe Koy, all of whom have faced serious legal or security-related allegations.
• The National Honours Act stipulates that honorees should be State or public officers who have made an exemplary contribution to national or county governments, or outstanding contributions in various sectors.
