The Harambee Starlets are intensifying preparations for the final phase of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against Gambia, aiming for a return to the continental stage after their sole appearance in 2016. The team will play a two-legged third-round tie, with the winner securing a spot in the tournament held in Morocco.

• The first leg will be held on October 24 at Nyayo Stadium, followed by the return leg on October 28 in Thiès, Senegal.
• Head coach Beldine Odemba has selected a provisional squad of 38 players, which will be reduced to 23 for the match against Gambia.
• Newcomer and Ulinzi Starlets defender, Lorine Ilavonga, is determined to make the final squad, stating, “It’s not easy to break into the senior team, and one must work hard, have self-belief and confidence in order to get that opportunity.”
