The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) has launched a Ksh.516 million initiative, the Leadership for Innovation and Excellence in Accelerating Research on Women’s Health (LEA-WH) Programme, to boost women’s health research and innovation across Africa.
- The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is funding the three-year program, set to begin in January 2026.
- The program aims to bring between five and ten innovative products to market testing, support up to ten startups, and enable 20–50 percent of scholars to secure research and development grants.
