Kenyan basketball teams fell short of winning the East Africa Basketball Championship Cup (EABCC) for the second consecutive year, with Ulinzi Warriors losing in the final to Burundi's Les Hippos Basketball Club. However, Umoja Basketball Club secured a respectable third place in their debut.

• Umoja Basketball Club secured bronze, beating local rivals Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) 90-86 in the third-place playoff.
• Umoja captain Victor Bosire scored 29 points in the bronze medal match, and Umoja forward Faheem Juma was the competition's top scorer with 142 points, making the EABCC dream team.
• Les Hippos' Romis Bujeje was awarded MVP and top rebounder with 52 rebounds.
