A woman tragically died by apparent suicide at Lake Victoria's Hippo Point Beach in Kisumu on Saturday evening after jumping into the water.

• Witnesses saw the woman sit quietly on rocks before removing her top, mobile phone, and national identification card, and then jumping into the lake.
• Collins Okoth, one of the divers who attempted a rescue, stated they brought her to the surface, but it was "too late."
• Police transferred the body to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem examinations.
