A whistleblower has revealed that the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) allegedly spent Ksh243 million on a legal tender to defend itself in court cases concerning the proposed JKIA rehabilitation by Adani Airport Holding Limited, significantly exceeding its initial budget.

• The KAA awarded a legal service tender of Ksh243,185,700 to Triple OK Law Advocates LLP for cases challenging the Adani-JKIA deal.
• This amount was far above KAA’s initial budget of Ksh12.5 million for the legal services.
• The procurement was processed through direct procurement citing the firm's prior engagement and knowledge of the cases, securing a 10 percent price reduction after negotiations.
• The Adani-JKIA deal, initially valued at Ksh246 billion, was canceled by President Ruto on November 21 due to widespread outrage following the whistleblower's exposé.
