Activist-turned-presidential aspirant Boniface Mwangi claims his life is in danger after finding a spent bullet casing in his luggage during a domestic flight from Nairobi to Malindi on October 9.

• Mwangi alleges the bullet was planted in his bag after it was briefly taken from him at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
• He views the incident as a direct threat and part of an escalating campaign of state-led intimidation against him and other activists, particularly following his involvement in protests against the 2024 Finance Bill.
• Mwangi’s legal team advised against reporting the incident to authorities, opting instead to inform a trusted human rights organization.
• He further claims a plot to intimidate the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to discredit his presidential bid and other forms of financial sabotage coordinated by the National Intelligence Service (NIS).
