Following a tragic boat capsizing that claimed three lives, the Mombasa County Government has announced new regulations for sea events and plans to recruit lifeguards. The incident involved the MV Dragon during the East African Ocean Festival at Tudor Watersports.

• All future sea events in Mombasa will require clearance from the County Security Committee, as confirmed by Governor Abdulswamad Nassir.
• The county will begin recruiting lifeguards from Beach Management Units to enhance disaster preparedness and emergency response along the coastline.
• Two bodies, those of Caleb Atieno (21 years old) and Steven Karembo (23 years old), were recovered in the days following the incident, bringing the total fatalities to three.
