The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a health advisory regarding three contaminated cough syrups from India, urging authorities to report any detection of these medicines. The syrups, consumed by children under five, contained diethylene glycol 500 times the permissible limit and were linked to deaths in Madhya Pradesh's Chhindwara district.

• The cough syrups contained toxic diethylene glycol in quantities nearly 500 times the permissible limit.
• The India's Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) informed the WHO that the syrups were reportedly consumed by children, all under the age of five, who recently died.
• The affected medicines are specific batches of Coldrif from Sresan Pharmaceutical, Respifresh TR from Rednex Pharmaceuticals, and ReLife from Shape Pharma.
