The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has expressed serious concerns over a recent surge in attacks and hostility against Kenya's National Police Service (NPS), warning that this trend threatens public safety and ongoing policing reforms. This follows several incidents, including the fatal attack of an officer near State House, Nairobi.

• A NPS officer, Constable Ramadhan Khamisi Matanka, was fatally attacked by an assailant wielding a bow and arrow during morning duty outside State House on Dennis Pritt Road.
• The assailant, identified as Kinyuka Kinyumi, 56, was apprehended at the scene and claimed he was "sent by Satan."
• Other cited incidents include attacks near State House, at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), and the torching of a section of Kiganjo Police Station in Kiambu County.
• IPOA Chairperson Issack Hassan urged the public to uphold the rule of law and report any concerns about police misconduct through established legal channels, while security agencies investigate perpetrators of violence against officers.
