The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has issued a show-cause letter to Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, threatening disciplinary action for his public support of an opposition candidate in the upcoming Malava parliamentary by-election.

• Senator Khalwale openly supported Seth Panyako of DAP-K, rather than UDA's candidate, David Ndakwa.
• The UDA Disciplinary Committee cited Khalwale's "various political activities, utterances and associations" as grounds for the disciplinary inquiry.
• Khalwale has been given 14 days to respond to the party's allegations.
• Khalwale stated his support for Panyako stemmed from the UDA's decision not to grant the party ticket to Ryan Injendi, son of the late Malava MP Malulu Injendi.
