Governor James Orengo's law firm has been ordered to pay a former junior lawyer Ksh560,000 for constructive dismissal. The lawyer resigned after working unpaid for three months at J.A.B. Orengo Advocates.

• The Employment and Labour Relations Court in Nairobi ruled that the firm's failure to pay salary constituted a fundamental breach of contract.
• The former employee, an Associate-Advocate, joined in January 2023 with a monthly salary of Ksh80,000 but was not paid for February and March 2023 before resigning on April 20, 2023.
• The awarded sum includes Ksh240,000 for three months' unpaid salary, Ksh240,000 in salary arrears, and Ksh80,000 in lieu of notice.
