The Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) has refuted allegations by leaders from Kericho and Bomet Counties concerning the embezzlement of over Sh1.03 billion contributed by farmers for power projects, stating all funds are accounted for and utilized within the specified projects.

• KTDA asserts that Sh1.03 billion contributed by farmers from the West of the Rift Valley has been fully utilized in two power projects in line with approved budgets.
• The funds were allocated to Settet Power Generation Company Limited, co-owned by seven tea factory companies and KTDA Power Company Limited, to develop small hydro power plants.
• The two projects, a 2.5 megawatts Chemosit Small Hydro Plant and 2.6 megawatts Kipsonoi Small Hydro Plant, aim to reduce production costs for tea factories and improve farmers' earnings.
