News reports on Wednesday morning incorrectly announced the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in India while undergoing medical treatment. The 80-year-old statesman was allegedly receiving treatment at an Ayurvedic eye hospital in Southern India.

• The false report stated Raila Odinga suffered a fatal cardiac arrest during a morning walk at the Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Eye Hospital and Research Centre in Koothattukulam, Kerala.
• He was reportedly pronounced dead at 9:52 a.m. at Devamatha Hospitall after efforts to revive him failed.
• Raila was said to be accompanied by his daughter, whose vision was previously restored at the same facility, and his personal doctor.
