Following the death of Raila Odinga, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has appointed Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga as the Acting Party leader. This decision was made during an emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Thursday morning in Nairobi.

• Oburu Odinga, Raila Odinga’s elder brother, will temporarily lead the party until a substantive leader is elected by ODM’s top organs.
• The announcement was made by Deputy Party Leader and Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir.
• Raila Odinga will be accorded a state funeral and laid to rest on Sunday in Bondo, Siaya County, within 72 hours of his passing, as per his wish.
