A Chinese official has been dismissed following an investigation into an environmentally damaging fireworks display in the ecologically fragile Himalaya Mountains. The incident sparked widespread online criticism and led to disciplinary action against multiple officials.

• Chen Hao, Party chief of Gyalze county, was fired after a fireworks show caused environmental damage in the Himalayas.
• The show, sponsored by Arc'teryx and organized by Cai Guoqiang's art studio, was held on September 19 at an altitude between 4,670 and 5,020 meters, affecting 30.06 hectares of grassland with 1,050 fireworks pots.
• Nine other officials received punishments, and the art studio was found in violation of ecological protection law, facing responsibility for restoration and compensation.
