Kenya Airways has significantly increased its flight frequency to Kisumu over the weekend due to high demand following the passing of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. The national carrier added flights and upgraded aircraft to accommodate travelers heading to Odinga's funeral.

Kenya Airways introduced two additional flights on Friday, October 17, and upgraded several flights to Boeing 737s on Saturday, October 18, Sunday, October 19, and Monday, October 20, 2025.
The increased capacity is to facilitate attendance at the burial of Raila Odinga, who died on October 15, with his funeral service and burial scheduled for Sunday at his ancestral home.
The adjustments came just hours after the airline reported that most of its flights were fully booked for the weekend.
