A police officer in Homa Bay has been arrested after fatally shooting a woman during a night vigil for the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. The incident occurred when a crowd of mourners attempted to storm the Homa Bay Police Station.

• The victim, identified as Lucy Oketch, was killed by a stray bullet while walking home near the police station entrance.
• The crowd, supporters of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, had gathered for a candle-lighting ceremony before marching to the police station.
• According to County Police Commander Lawrence Koklem, some mourners threw stones at the station, prompting an officer to fire.
