A new global survey by the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (PMNCH) reveals that a funding crisis is severely threatening vital health programs for women, children, and adolescents worldwide. This crisis, described as "not just financial but human" by PMNCH Executive Director Rajat Khosla, is forcing organizations to scale back or cease essential services.
- 89 percent of partner organizations surveyed faced reduced or uncertain funding in the past year, with 81 percent reporting moderate to severe impacts.
- PMNCH, led by Executive Director Rajat Khosla and Board Chair Helen Clark, conducted the survey across 20+ countries in Africa, Latin America, and South-East Asia.
- Nearly two-thirds of organizations have downsized, 37 percent temporarily suspended operations, and 19 percent shut down entirely, with programs in adolescent health, reproductive health, and maternal care being the hardest hit.
