Kenya is projected to significantly increase its government spending in the 2026/27 financial year, with a planned 9.69% rise to Sh4.65 trillion. This increase, equivalent to 22.2% of GDP, is driven by the continued implementation of key programs under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

• Total government expenditure is projected to reach Sh4.65 trillion in 2026/27, up from Sh4.27 trillion in 2025/26.
• The National Treasury released these projections in the 2025 Budget Review and Outlook Paper (BROP).
• Total revenue, including Appropriations-in-Aid (AiA), is expected to grow by 7.9% to Sh3.58 trillion, supported by tax reforms.
