The East African Community (EAC) has confirmed that construction of the Kenya-Uganda Expressway will commence soon, following successful bilateral discussions and the project's confirmation as a feasible and investment-ready endeavor.

The project involves a new 60km expressway from Jinja to Busesa in Uganda under a Public Private Partnership (PPP).
Uganda will also dual the Busesa–Malaba and Busitema–Busia roads.
Kenya will upgrade the Kisumu bypass and the Kimaeti–Lwakhakha road, and rehabilitate the Busia and Malaba One-Stop Border Posts (OSBPs).
EAC Deputy Secretary General in charge of Infrastructure, Andrea Ariik Malueth, emphasized the project's role in connecting businesses, people, and opportunities across East Africa.
This initiative is part of the broader Northern Transport Corridor aimed at enhancing regional trade and transport efficiency.
