A horrific multi-vehicle collision on a major Ugandan highway has resulted in at least 46 deaths. The crash occurred after two buses attempted to overtake other vehicles, leading to a chain reaction of collisions and overturned vehicles.

• The crash initially had a higher reported death toll, which was later revised down by the Uganda Police Force to 46 fatalities.
• The accident took place on the Kampala-Gulu Highway at approximately 00:15 local time (21:15 GMT).
• Regional Police spokesperson Julius Hakiiza attributed the crash to a bus that was “trying to overtake”, colliding head-on with another bus.
• At least four vehicles were involved, and an investigation into the tragedy is currently underway.
