The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has rescued a cheetah that was being raised as a pet by a woman in Kursi Village, Garissa County. The woman had cared for the animal for nearly two years after finding it stranded as a cub.

• The cheetah underwent examinations by KWS veterinary teams and is now under expert care at Nairobi Safari Walk for conservation and education efforts.
• Keeping wild animals without a license is against Kenya's Wildlife Conservation and Management Act of 2013, which aims to keep animals in their natural habitats.
