The KMPDU Nyanza Branch and the management of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) have initiated a new cooperative agreement to enhance doctors' welfare and facilitate the hospital's transition to a Level 6 facility. This follows a constructive meeting focused on union recognition and improved working conditions for medical practitioners.

• Dr. Steve Onyango Ndong’o, KMPDU Nyanza Branch Chairperson, confirmed that the union's priority of official recognition with JOOTRH has been positively received.
• A crucial outcome is the assurance that doctors' medical insurance, which faced challenges during the transition, will be fast-tracked to the SHA public service comprehensive scheme.
• The agreement includes a commitment to sign a Recognition Agreement within the next four weeks and commence Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations soon after.
