Direct passenger flights between India and China have resumed after a five-year suspension caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic. An IndiGo flight from Kolkata to Guangzhou on Monday marked the re-establishment of this vital air link.

• The inaugural flight was fully booked with 176 passengers.
• The resumption of flights facilitates travel for business people attending the ongoing China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) in Guangzhou.
• IndiGo is scheduled to launch new direct flights between New Delhi and Guangzhou on November 10.
