KFS will regain control of the land, with a section of the land valued at nearly Ksh3 billion being handed to KTTC...
✨ Key Highlights
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has successfully recovered a 17-acre parcel of land valued at Ksh2.8 billion that was illegally taken from Karura Forest 27 years ago. This recovery follows a recent court ruling that declared the land’s original allocation and sale to private investors in 1997 as illegal.
- The Nairobi Environment and Land Court ruled that the land was unlawfully allocated to former minister Joseph Kamotho and involved two ex-land commissioners.
- The recovered land, originally part of Kenya Technical Teachers College (KTTC) and Karura Forest, will see 16 acres returned to Karura Forest and one acre to KTTC.
- This recovery aligns with EACC's ongoing efforts, led by CEO Abdi Mohamud, to reclaim illegally acquired public land, including a recent Ksh35 million parcel in Bungoma County.
