A university student is facing charges for allegedly sharing a fake 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam on a WhatsApp group and for unlawfully possessing multiple national identity cards. The accused, a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physics student, claimed to have official exam papers from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).

The suspect is accused of publishing false information between 2022 and October 11, 2025, in a WhatsApp group called “Teachers KNEC Exams 2025.”
He faces charges under Section 22(1) of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act No. 5 of 2018 and for unlawful possession of IDs under Section 14(1) and Section 14(f) of the Registration of Persons Act, Cap 107 Laws of Kenya.
The student was found with 3 national identity cards, including one belonging to Lucy Muthoni Kimencu (ID No. 560150379) and another to Bosco Kioko Wambua (ID No. 37806435), and was released on a cash bail of KSh100,000.
