The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has been awarded the 2025 International Association of Ports and Harbours (IAPH) Sustainability Award for its "Mangrove Restoration for Ocean Protection and Increased Forest Cover Project." This prestigious honor recognizes KPA's innovative efforts in environmental conservation and community collaboration.

• The KPA project topped the Environmental Care category, beating two other finalists from a pool of 500 global submissions.
• KPA Managing Director Captain William Ruto accepted the award at the IAPH World Ports Conference in Kobe, Japan.
• The project has partnered with coastal communities to rehabilitate degraded mangrove areas, resulting in expanded mangrove cover, a healthier coastal ecosystem, and increased fish breeding, particularly for lobsters and prawns.
