• Olaba's original 15-year sentence, along with Lawrence Wanyama, for gang rape in 2018 was quashed in June 2020, leading to a retrial order.
• He was convicted in May 2023 for threatening a witness and sentenced to six years, which he is currently serving.
• A new trial date for the gang rape case involving Olaba and Wanyama has been set for February 9, 2026, at the Nairobi Court.
