The High Court has delivered a significant blow to the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) by barring it from recruiting police officers. The court ruled that the mandate to recruit, train, assign, suspend, and dismiss police officers exclusively belongs to the Inspector General of Police (IG).

• The Employment and Labor Relations Court declared the recruitment exercise advertised by the NPSC as unconstitutional.
• Justice Hellen Wasilwa cited Article 232 of the Constitution of Kenya, emphasizing that recruitment by a national security organ must be performed by the organ itself.
• The court declared Legal Notice No. 159 of September 19, 2025, unconstitutional and issued a permanent injunction against the NPSC regarding police officer management.
• Former Kilome legislator Harun Mwau filed the case, challenging the NPSC's recruitment call.
