Nyeri MCAs have clarified that there are no plans to impeach Governor Mutahi Kahiga, despite calls from some leaders. They dismissed these calls as politically motivated, aiming to create divisions and portray the Mt Kenya region as tribal.

• The MCAs stated that an impeachment motion would be a “waste of time and resources” unless it involved a Constitutional issue like misappropriation of funds.
• The clarification comes after a petition was filed at the High Court in Nairobi seeking to declare Governor Kahiga unfit for office.
• The petition cited Governor Kahiga's remarks made on October 22 concerning Raila Odinga’s death, which petitioners argued threatened Kenya's unity.
