The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) reported that prices for several essential commodities increased between September and October 2025, despite an unchanged inflation rate of 4.6 percent. This rise includes electricity and various food items, impacting household budgets.

• Electricity costs for 200 kWh rose from Ksh5,597 to Ksh5,764, and for 50 kWh from Ksh1,274 to Ksh1,315.
• Food items like Irish potatoes (1.6 percent), beef (0.5 percent), mangoes (3.8 percent), onions (1.4 percent), cabbages (0.9 percent), and oranges (4.2 percent) saw price hikes.
• Conversely, prices for maize flour (both sifted and fortified) decreased by approximately 2.3 percent and 2.2 percent, respectively.
• Transport costs for country bus and matatu fares between towns increased by 1.4 percent, while petrol and diesel prices remained constant.
