President William Ruto has launched a massive affordable housing and student accommodation initiative in Busia County, Kenya, encompassing nearly 10,000 housing units, 6,000 student beds, and 14 modern markets. This program aims to transform Western Kenya towns, create jobs, and expand access to decent housing.

• The Bumbe Technical Training Institute (TTI) hostel project will provide 340 bed spaces for its 3,500 students.
• President Ruto cautioned against "selfish politicians" opposing the plan during an inspection of the Boma Yangu Funyula Housing Project, which will deliver 955 units.
• The projects have already generated over 300 jobs directly, with more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs created in Busia through contracts with local "jua kali" groups for supplies like doors and windows.
