Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has declared his intention to follow in the political footsteps of the late Raila Odinga, aiming to challenge President William Ruto's administration after Odinga's passing on October 15, 2025.

• Gachagua praised Raila Odinga as a political master and expressed admiration for the strong Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) that Odinga built.
• Gachagua is recruiting 100 legislators to mirror the legal and political protection Odinga received from his team, including James Orengo and Edwin Sifuna.
• Odinga died from a cardiac arrest in India, and Gachagua remembered him as a selfless individual who fought for Kenya's liberation and democracy.
