Samia Suluhu Hassan has been sworn in as Tanzania's President for a second term in Dodoma, with her victory following a contentious election and accompanying protests. Her inauguration was held with limited attendance as the internet remained blocked.

• President Suluhu won 98 per cent of the vote, a result disputed by the main opposition party, Chadema, which called for new elections.
• The Tanzanian government imposed a curfew in Dar es Salaam amidst reports from the opposition of hundreds killed in protests, claims the government has dismissed as "hugely exaggerated".
• Suluhu, the first woman president of Tanzania and the first born in Zanzibar, previously served as president since 2021 after the demise of John Magufuli, and this marks her first term as an elected president.
