The Environment and Land Court has temporarily halted construction of the road linking the Nakuru–Nairobi highway and the Western Bypass in Gitaru, Kiambu County. This ruling follows complaints from property owners who claim the construction has made their businesses and homes inaccessible and poses significant safety risks.

• The court issued a temporary injunction barring further development by the 1st respondents, contractors, servants, agents, and representatives.
• Petitioner properties are located near the V-junction where the highway splits towards the Western Bypass and flows into the Gitaru area.
• Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) began heavy excavation in September 2025, leaving petitioners' properties elevated five to seven metres above road level.
• Petitioners cited lack of proper public participation, arguing that the absence of a service lane or slip road has lowered their property values and that the court will hear the case on November 11, 2025.
