An avalanche on Yalung Ri mountain in north-eastern Nepal has claimed the lives of seven climbers, including five foreigners and two Nepalis. The incident occurred on Monday morning near the base camp.

• Seven Summit Treks reported that two bodies have been recovered, while rescuers continue to search for the remaining five, believed to be buried under snow.
• The deceased include two Italians, a Canadian, a German, a French national, and two Nepali guides.
• Five other climbers sustained non-critical injuries and returned to base camp.
• Rescue efforts were hindered by poor weather and logistical issues, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Gyan Kumar Mahato.
• The group was part of an acclimatization climb for the nearby Dolma Khang peak.
