- According to the Kenya Defence Force Act of 2012, unauthorized wearing or use of military gear is a serious offense, punishable by a fine of up to Ksh2 million or imprisonment of up to seven years, or both.
 - Makau Mutua, President William Ruto’s advisor on Constitutional and Legal Affairs, criticized the governor, stating that only the President, as Commander-in-Chief, is permitted to wear military or military-like garb.
